Do you ever look at your marketing and think,
“I think it’s working”?
That’s like saying,
“I think we’re dating,”
after three coffee dates.
If you’re unsure whether your marketing is actually working, it’s probably because you’re tracking the wrong things—or not tracking anything at all.
Today, I’m going to show you how to get measurable marketing results using what I call Marketing Math — a simple framework that helps you see what’s working, what’s wasting money, and what’s ready to scale.
Here’s the truth: most business owners measure what’s visible, not what’s valuable.
You post something, it gets 200 likes, and you think, “This is working.”
But if no one books a call, joins your list, or buys your offer, those likes are just digital confetti.
It’s like bragging about 200 dating-app matches without a single date.
You’re popular, sure — but not profitable.
To achieve measurable marketing results, you have to move beyond vanity metrics and start tracking what actually drives revenue.
Marketing Math isn’t about spreadsheets or finance degrees — it’s about translating your marketing into simple human numbers that tell the truth about performance.
There are three numbers every business owner should know:
Cost Per Lead (CPL)
Cost Per Acquisition (CPA)
Return on Ad Spend (ROAS)
When you can calculate these three things, you can instantly see whether to scale, pivot, or pause a campaign.
CPL tells you how much it costs to get someone’s contact information — like a booked call, form submission, or email signup.
Formula:
CPL = Total Ad Spend ÷ Number of Leads
Example:
If you spend $500 on ads and get 40 leads, your CPL is $12.50.
That means it costs $12.50 to get one person interested enough to raise their hand.
Cheap leads aren’t always good leads — focus on lead quality, not just quantity.
CPA tells you how much it costs to gain a paying customer.
Example:
If you spend $500 on ads, get 40 leads, and close 4 customers, your CPA is $125.
If your average sale is $1,000, that’s great.
If your product is $99, that’s a problem.
Measurable marketing results come from knowing when the math works — and when it doesn’t.
ROAS tells you how much you earn for every dollar you spend.
Formula:
ROAS = Revenue ÷ Ad Spend
Example:
If you spend $500 and make $6,000, your ROAS is 12x — meaning you earned $12 for every $1 spent.
That’s how you replace uncertainty with confidence — by knowing exactly what your campaigns return.
Knowing your numbers is the first step toward measurable marketing results — but numbers alone don’t make money.
You have to apply them strategically.
If your CPL is high, fix your targeting or offer.
If your CPA is high, improve your sales page or follow-up.
If your ROAS is strong, double down.
The data isn’t there to judge you — it’s there to guide you.
Once you have your main metrics, look at conversion rates — how efficiently you move people through your funnel.
How many clicks turn into leads?
How many leads turn into buyers?
These ratios reveal the hidden friction in your system.
Maybe your ad is strong but your landing page confuses people.
Maybe your emails perform but your checkout page leaks conversions.
When you fix those small friction points, your marketing wheel spins faster — and your results become measurable, predictable, and repeatable.
Let’s run the math together:
Ad Spend: $500
Reach: 20,000 people
Clicks: 600
Leads: 40
Customers: 4
Average Sale: $1,500
That’s $6,000 in revenue from $500 in spend — a 12x ROAS.
That’s not luck. That’s a measurable marketing result.
Track what matters — not vanity metrics.
Calculate your Marketing Math (CPL, CPA, ROAS).
Adjust based on data — not emotion.
Repeat what works until you can scale with confidence.
Because marketing isn’t gambling.
It’s math.
And math always tells the truth.
If you’re tired of wondering whether your marketing is working, start measuring it.
You don’t need complicated dashboards — just three simple metrics that reveal everything.
Once you track them, you’ll finally understand what’s working, what’s not, and where to grow next.
Because marketing isn’t magic — it’s math that makes money.
